Kurmangazy (1818-1889)
Kurmangazy Sagyrbaev was born in Atyrau region. He was a follower of ancient kuishilik tradition, the great composer enriched content of Kazakh kuis and improved its structure. He also established a school and his own mastery of performing. his masterpieces were brought to our days by his disciples Dina, Ergali, Mendygali. He is buried in Astrakhan(Russia).

Kui Adai is dedicated to Kazakh Adai tribe (not to be confused with Native American people of northwestern Louisiana) who was known to be fierce warriors.
