Julio Iglesias Interview on The Arsenio Hall Show October 1990

The year was 1990, in the month of October. I was a student at the time, at Cal. State Northridge. I am not sure about the exact date, but as I had found out earlier, Julio Iglesias was about to make a guest appearance on the Late Night Television talk show, The Arsenio Hall Show located in Paramount Studios. The taping of the show was supposed to take place at 5 PM, to be broadcasted that same night at 11:30 PM. It was very difficult to make sure to get in the show as an audience member, but I decided to try and give it my best shot. There were a few steps involved in the process. And I had a very important Mid Term exam in the early afternoon that day. I woke up early in the morning at around 4 AM, and by 5 AM I was the first to stand in line by the door of the studio where they were supposed to hand out the tickets for that afternoon. I remember it was before the sunrise, and it was still dark outside. After about an hour of wait, I got the ticket to the show, and was then supposed to return that afternoon to stand in line for a few hours, without any guarantee of whether I would actually be able to get in.

Afterwards, I drove to school to take my mid term exam in Cell Biology, after which I drove all the way back to Paramount Studios, and got there at around 3 PM to wait in line. While at the line, I met the directors of Julio's Fan Club in Los Angeles and was asked to join the club so that I could be invited to more television appearances and CD signings through the fan Club.

I was very lucky to be among the people who where able to actually get into the studio. It was a great show. Julio performed If You Go Away, and he had an interesting interview with Arsenio Hall.

I came back home and watched and recorded the show which aired at 11:30 PM that same night.

It was an amazing and a successful day all altogether, as I also got an A on my Mid Term exam.

This is the recording of the interview portion of that show.
